Most patients return every 3-4 months to maintain their results, though this varies a bit depending on which product is used and how quickly your body metabolizes it. Dysport and Jeuveau typically last around 3-4 months, while Daxxify's longer-lasting formula can stretch results to 4-6 months for many patients.

A few things that can affect how long your results last: your muscle strength and activity level, your metabolism, how consistently you keep up with treatments, and the specific areas being treated (smaller, finer muscles like around the eyes may need touch-ups sooner than larger areas like the forehead).

Here's a good rule of thumb: once you start noticing your expression lines becoming more visible again or feel like your muscles are "waking back up," it's time to book your next appointment. Staying consistent with your schedule, rather than waiting until results have fully worn off, tends to help maintain smoother, longer-lasting results over time since the treated muscles stay trained to relax.

The number of units depends on your treatment area, the strength of your muscles, and the results you're hoping to achieve, so it really is different for every patient. That said, here are some general ranges we typically see:

Forehead lines usually take about 8 to 30 units, frown lines between the brows (the "elevens") often need 15 to 45 units, and crow's feet around the eyes generally call for 6 to 15 units per side. Patients treating multiple areas at once, such as the forehead, frown lines, and crow's feet together, often land somewhere between 50 and 65 units total.

It's worth noting that unit counts aren't directly comparable across products. Because Daxxify, Dysport, and Jeuveau each have different potencies, the number of units used for one may look quite different from another, even for the same treatment area and the same result.

This is one of the reasons an in-person consultation matters so much: our injectors assess your muscle strength, facial anatomy, and goals to determine the right unit count and product for you, rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all number.

Your first treatment may also serve as a helpful baseline. If we find you need a bit more or less to reach your ideal look, we'll fine-tune your unit count at your next visit.

Most patients start noticing subtle changes within 3-5 days, with full results settling in over the following 14-21 days. Everyone's timeline is a little different depending on the product used and your individual metabolism, so it's normal if a patient sitting next to you sees results a day or two faster or slower than you do.

By the 3-week mark, you should have a clear picture of your final results for that treatment.

If you're not quite where you'd like to be after 3 weeks, that's exactly what your follow-up appointment is for. We can assess your results and add a touch-up if needed to help you reach your ideal look.

There's nothing to worry about if you decide to stop. Neuromodulators are temporary by design, so if you choose not to continue treatment, your muscles will simply resume their normal movement as the product gradually wears off, and expression lines will return to how they looked before treatment. Nothing about stopping causes your skin or muscles to look worse than they did originally, and there's no "rebound" effect where lines come back stronger.

Most patients notice this transition happening gradually over the weeks following their last treatment, right around the same three-to-six-month window results typically last. There's no need to taper off or follow any special process. You're always welcome to pause treatments for any reason, whether that's a change in budget, pregnancy, travel, or simply wanting a break, and can pick back up whenever it feels right for you.

Neuromodulators are most commonly thought of being used on the upper face, where expression lines form from repeated muscle movement.

Popular treatment areas include the forehead, to soften horizontal lines from raising your eyebrows; the glabella, or the "elevens" between your brows, from frowning or squinting; and the crow's feet around the outer corners of the eyes, from smiling and squinting.

Beyond these classic areas, neuromodulators can also treat a variety of other concerns, including a "bunny lines" across the nose from scrunching, a gummy smile by softening the muscle that lifts the upper lip, lip flip treatments to subtly roll the upper lip outward for more visible pink, chin dimpling or a "cobblestone" chin, and jawline slimming by relaxing an overactive masseter muscle for a softer, more oval facial shape. Some patients also use neuromodulators for neck banding, often called "Nefertiti neck," and for reducing excessive underarm sweating.
